IDEX Quality Manager in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Summary of Position:

This position will design and maintain CVI’s quality policies, processes, and procedures, in adherence to ISO9001, internal business goals and objectives, and customer needs. The quality manager will also actively support the execution of quality processes at CVI as detailed in the Job Description.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead maintenance of CVI’s ISO registration: surveillance and certification audits, internal audit program, quality management reviews, and execution of corrective/preventative actions from audit findings.

  • Lead deployment, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of CVI’s quality management system and associated quality manual. Elements of CVI’s QMS include management subsystems for: documentation, nonconforming material, supplier guidelines and corrective action management, training, audits, and returned good.

  • Drives cross functional leadership to ensure quality priorities and objectives are met. Mentor, and champion activities to continue quality culture within organization.

  • Develop and maintain CVI quality roadmap in alignment with business goals and objectives.

  • Lead quality planning for development projects or changed processes to ensure risks and opportunities are addressed prior to moving to scaled production

  • Lead quality system training requirements of personnel. Provide classroom-type and on-the-job training when needed, and maintain training records

  • Initiate, facilitate, and lead cross functional teams for structured problem solving and corrective/preventative actions utilizing various quality tools including Lean and Six Sigma methodologies

  • Objectively review and qualify product or process data using statistical techniques

  • Monitor in-process and final testing and inspection activities. Track and adjust quality control checks of critical processes in production using charts, statistical data, and reports to ensure customers’ requirements are fulfilled

  • Support returned goods program from receipt of the returns to closure. Facilitate inspections, containment activities, investigations, dispositions, and communication with the customers. Provides contract review support.

  • Support Nonconformance Reporting program including investigations, disposition, and action plan development by partnering with production and engineering teams

  • Maintains and continues to develop professional and technical knowledge by participating in training, seminars, and benchmarking best practices

  • Develop, train and audit on best practices to ensure employee performance and development

  • Other quality functions as determined necessary by business or customer need

Desired Skills, Experience, Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited institution in a related field, or equivalent related on the job education and experience

  • At least 5 years of directly related experience

  • The person must have or be willing to gain working knowledge of quality management systems, ISO 9001 requirements, Lean Principles, Six Sigma and proficient knowledge of statistics

  • The ability to adapt to work effectively in an environment of change, uncertainty, and ambiguity; can make pragmatic decisions in a timely fashion, especially when there is not a clear “right way.”

  • Deep understanding and application of problem solving tools for root cause and corrective action

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience in Engineered to Order (ETO) manufacturing industry

  • Understanding of optics fabrication, coating, bonding, and inspection

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing technologies, processes, and accepted good manufacturing practices
