POSITION SUMMARY
Assume production planning responsibility for the Master Production Scheduling/Material Requirement Planning (MPS/MRP), monitor the production status of open work orders and the control of inventory. Maintain accurate specification databases on multi-level Bill of Materials. Generate various reports to monitor material supplies on all demands, monitoring and analyzing data to recommend and implement changes; design and institute the necessary procedural controls for planning, controlling and maintaining accuracy of multi-level inventory requirements, and assist in special projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs production planning including the MPS and MRP for the Bill of Materials components demands generated by JD Edwards (JDE)
Generates various production reports and reviews to monitor the delivery status of open work orders, purchase orders in order to communicate with the sellers regarding orders with possible delay
Maintain a positive working relationship and liaise with buyers in order to troubleshoot supplier dock dates
Work with buyers to ensure that supply dock dates align with planned need dates
Performs inventory variance analysis
Designs and institutes the necessary procedural controls for planning, controlling and maintaining accuracy of the optical inventory requirements
Assists in special projects
Finds substitute parts in stock for items that are not available as the specified ID# on the sales order.
Creates multi-level specification data with new ID#’s to required specifications.
Generates reports as needed
Recommends and implements changes as necessary
Assists in maintaining the daily database
Assists in controlling the use of polished substrates
Performs other duties as assigned by the planning supervisor
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy
Demonstrate strong knowledge and experience using computerized systems and spreadsheets.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience with MPS/MRP procedures and applications.
Perform basic mathematical calculations
Learn, read, interpret and understand inventory catalog descriptions, part numbers, technical specifications, computer reports, computerized spreadsheet formulas and other job related information
Design advanced spreadsheets using Excel or equivalent software packages
Demonstrate and practice a detail-oriented approach to analyzing and problem solving complicated inventory problems
Learn and use JDE and abide by any standard operating procedure (SOP) requirements
Perform repetitive tasks requiring exacting and continuous mental and visual concentration in a consistent manner
Maintain flexibility
Work well with time and production restrictions
Prioritize and organize
CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE
Preferred Associates Degree or Certificate in Business Administration, Manufacturing, Materials Management, or related field; or High School Diploma or GED + 2 years equivalent experience in a professional fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred experience: 2 years of experience in Materials Resource Planning (MRP)
Minimum of six months training in computer skills or equivalent, with emphasis in Excel or other database software
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7am-4:30p (some flexibility to shift this during site hours of 5am-6pm). On occasion extended hours and some weekend time may be required to support the Operations Team.
Remote Work Eligible: Position is primarily onsite and, in pre-approved circumstances, occasional remote work eligible.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS
Climb ladder to reach stock on higher shelves
Demonstrate upper body mobility in order to move inventory to/from shelves, operate computer system, lift and transport objects
Manipulate papers and/or parts into packaging material
Grasp, press, type, and safety use sharp instruments to open boxes
Pull stock boxes off the shelves.
Exposure to minimal fumes from acetone, alcohol, and acetic acid used by others in the work area
PHYSICAL CLASSIFICATION OF JOB
Light Work: The ability to move up to twenty pounds occasionally or up to ten pounds frequently. This is light work which requires the following physical activities: reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The worker is exposed to hazards and the work is performed primarily indoors.
