Under supervision, responsible for executing all daily operational import and export activities of CVI Laser. Driving continuous improvement of Import Compliance processes, Export Compliance processes, reduction of Requests for Information, implementation of process efficiencies, while promoting consistency across team and focusing on cycle time and regulatory compliance.

This role will serve as the primary point of contact for for Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) determination. The Trade Compliance Analyst will also play a critical role in resolving customs clearance issues pertaining to classification, country of origin, trade preference, etc. The candidate will work across multiple business functions and external stakeholders to drive and deliver exceptional service to ensure uninterrupted customs and supply chain operations.

This role will proactively oversee and guide export and import compliance matters while effectively interacting with employees at all levels. The Trade Compliance Analyst will work both independently and with other members of the organization on a variety of international trade compliance matters, and will develop and implement appropriate strategies to meet business requirements.

This job position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations. Therefore, all employees working in this capacity must meet citizenship status. Per the CVI Laser, LLC Export Controls Policy and Procedure, the employee must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.

Key Responsibilities

Conducts internal audits of Export/Import Compliance Policies, Procedures and Manuals to ensure organization is in compliance with regulations.

Participates in continuous improvement & productivity initiatives; supports implementation of changes required by regulatory changes related to: import/export, security, etc.

Implement trade compliance policies and procedures by providing formal and informal communications and guidance to internal and external customers regarding all conditions of the export and import authorizations.

Make formal presentations in meetings, and responds to questions from management, employees, customers and vendors related to export/import compliance.

Delivers applicable compliance training to employees and management.

Determine applicability and requirements of exporting and importing products under Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), U.S. Customs regulations and other trade regulations as appropriate.

Classifies product according to the HTSUSA and determines other government agency requirements applicable to the product.

Applies regulatory, judicial, international and/or Customs and Border Protection decisions/views to products being classified.

Establish compliance assessment audits, assist in investigations and support the implementation of corrective actions.

Provide training on processes and automated tools to export import staff and internal customers.

Manage required data using Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Portal and Automated Export System (AES).

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field.

  • Minimum of 1+ year directly related experience with explore and import transactions strongly preferred.

  • Experience with assigning appropriate classifications (HTS and ECCN codes) strongly preferred.

  • Must have minimum 1 year of experience using an ERP System. Prefer experience processing international shipments through third party providers, including FedEx, UPS and/or other freight forwarders

  • Experience with MS Office Applications, including knowledge of Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Prefer experience training others in departmental processes.
